Michelle lives in Bergen County with her family. She was born and raised in the Dominican Republic and the Netherlands and then came to the US for college and settled here. From an early age Michelle loved movement, from gymnastics to swimming, yoga, barre, and running she has always loved to move her body. After treating a shoulder injury 7 years ago, her PT suggested she try Pilates to further strengthen her shoulders. After her first session, she fell in love with the practice. Pilates strengthened her shoulders, gave her the posture she always wanted, established a strong mind/body connection, and gave her a sense of calm and time to unwind that she was yearning for. She was a client for many years and then decided to enroll in the Club Pilates teacher training program and has been teaching for over 3 years. Her favorite aspect of Pilates is the mind/body connection and focus on the breath. She hopes to pass this love onto her clients. Using her corporate background in Training and Development, Michelle uses her design and delivery skills to give her clients clear cues, breaking down exercises so that clients are able to advance their Pilates practice. She hopes to improve her clients' mind/body connection and aims to not only give her clients a good workout but one that allows them to relax the mind and be in the present. When she is not teaching or enjoying her own practice, Michelle enjoys adventurous vacations with her family, walking her dog, and reading a good book.
