As a military spouse, Wendy had to reinvent herself every few years as they relocated. With each move, she always found a familiar place and good friends at the gym. Wendy started teaching group exercise when her kids were in preschool. Finding opportunities to coach and motivate others, while still being a stay-at-home mom, was the perfect balance. The first time she walked into Club Pilates, she felt right at home with the warm welcome and soon-to-be lifelong friends. Although she is certified through the Athletic and Fitness Association of America in Group Exercise, Schwinn Indoor Cycling, and TRX, after trying the Pilates Reformer, she was hooked. In 2022, Wendy had a health set back; she went from feeling fully in control, able to do level 2 classes, to struggling with a level 1. It was humbling and gave her a new appreciation for all movement. “Club Pilates was a saving grace while figuring out the next steps.” Although not back fully, she says, “I have a new direction maintaining movement for many years to come. We all experience health setbacks at one time or another and I’m grateful for the opportunity to help members through their health hiccups with continued movement.” As a New Mexican food snob, she prefers to eat blue corn enchiladas and chili rellenos Christmas style. She is guilty of smuggling green and red chiles across the border from the land of enchantment, Nuevo Mexico. Covid introduced her to sourdough and the bread making cult. Almost daily, she attempts to make the perfect loaf, with many flops and burns. Sourdough is a constant reminder that a little TLC goes a long way.
