With a background in dance, Pilates was not new to me. I used to take mat Pilates classes growing up but was not introduced to Reformer Pilates until I moved to Georgia in 2021. I initially started at Club Pilates to meet people in my new town but quickly fell in love with the workouts and instructors. I attended classes 5 days a week and quickly advanced. In 2022 my instructors began encouraging me to take the Teacher Training and I became an apprentice soon after. My favorite classes to teach are Flow 1.5 and Control 1.5, where I can incorporate two of my favorite things, dance/barre and weights!

I’m Shanda, 48 years old, and have been teaching Pilates for almost 2 years. I started doing pilates in my 30’s as a supplement to traditional gym workouts, took a hiatus, then returned to reformer Pilates in my 40’s. I originally sought out teacher training to further my own practice of Pilates but quickly realized how much I had to offer others as an instructor. I am always learning and trying to improve, both personally and professionally, and have since acquired additional education in the biomechanics of rotational athletes to better offer them Pilates training to improve their performance. Every body I work with is a challenge I appreciate and I look forward to what I do every day.

I am originally from Rochester, NY where I raised 2 children and taught elementary school. 2020 brought me to North Augusta. I love living in the South and it was here I discovered Pilates. I've experienced for myself the many benefits the practice brings. Being an instructor now is a joy.
